Homegirl Mary [formally known as miss frannie]

I love God.
Really love God.
And I am committed to showing him through the way that I live.

I still love movies.
Laughter is still addictive.
I am weirder than ever. But that term has been more specifically defined now that I see the world in a completely different way.

Music is no longer an escape from life as I no longer feel the need to flee the troubles of life, but instead embrace them so that I may become more mature in Christ.

No, music is not an escape, but a gift from God and a way to give thanks to Him.
Hopes, dreams, and desires are no longer secret treasures. These things will not only be revealed through this blog, but they will also become reality for me, so long as my faith is strong.

Love is certainly not a secret. God's love was made painfully apparent to us through His death on a cross. And I will die to my earthly nature every day so that His love will shine through me. Those that don't know love will now have a chance to see it through me, a tool made to emphasize God's glory.

If you throw these things in my face, that's okay. If you don't appreciate me, that's okay. If you don't like what I say on here, that's okay.

I'm not here to please you guys. I'm here to help save lives.

"Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."
-Philippians 2: 1-4

Ask me anything

Quiet Time: Aug 15th

So I’ve been reading Guilty Soul’s Guide to Grace, because I can struggle a lot with worldly sorrow and having a more accurate perception of God and his attitude toward me.

So yesterday I decided to start studying out evidences of God’s love in the Bible, just to really build up the image of God’s true loving, merciful character in my mind and not the tainted one a wrathful God who despises me and is forever displeased with my existence.

So to my surprise, the beginning of my study leads me to the first scripture in the Bible, which reads: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  I was like…okay…yes, he did.  Then I read the commentary on it, and it’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read.  It reads:

"The simple statement that God created the heavens and the earth is one of the most challenging concepts confronting the modern mind.  The vast galaxy we live in is spinning at the incredible speed of 490,000 miles an hour.  But even at this breakneck speed, our galaxy still needs 200 million years to make one rotation.  And there are over one billion other galaxies just like ours in the universe.

Some scientists say that the number of stars in creation is equal to all the grains of all the sands on all the beaches of the world.  Yet this complex sea of spinning stars functions with remarkable order and efficiency.  To say that the universe ‘just happened’ or ‘evolved’ requires more faith than to believe that God is behind these amazing statistics.

God truly did create a wonderful universe.  God did not need to create the universe; he chose to create it.  Why? God is love, and love is best expressed toward something or someone else — so God created the world and people as an expression of his love.  We should avoid reducing God’s creation to merely scientific terms.  Remember that God created the universe because he loves us.”

And I never looked at the first scripture in this way.  I never looked at the universe in this way.  As a masterpiece created specifically for me as a gift from God.  Everything around us, from the trees, to the sky, to the oceans, to the animals, to the people in our lives…everything and everyone was created as an expression of God’s love for us.  God is so romantic.  But this quality in him can easily be overlooked by a Guilty Soul such as myself.  But He’s changing my mind…

Why do people wait for new years to change their lives

Reblogged from kazuos

“That seems sort of harmless but then it kind of gets a little darker and sort of accuses these young pop artists of being part of this cycle where girls read magazines, feel terrible about themselves ‘cause its says “you should be skinnier, you should be prettier”. They feel terrible, and then these pop stars tell them that they’re perfect and that they’re beautiful and they buy the songs and then the popstar’s on the cover of the magazine so they buy a magazine again and it’s sort of this vicious cycle and I sort of implied he’s working for Satan or whatever.”

Is that Bo?
